Tesco shoppers to enjoy major Clubcard voucher boost

Tesco has announced a major change for its Clubcard, which is great news for shoppers.

Customers who use the Clubcard & Grocery app will get coupons three times more often from Christmas as part of the scheme’s revamp.

More than four million shoppers who use the app will get personalised coupons every two weeks, up from a maximum of eight times a year.

The coupons will be selected based on what customers buy and include bonus points and discounts for them to use in-store and online.

The coupons will be digital and stored on the Clubcard & Grocery app.

If the trial is successful, it could be rolled out to more Tesco customers, The Mirror reports.

The Clubcard app is different to the Clubcard & Grocery app.

The old Clubcard app will be closing in 2023.

Customers will have to download the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard App instead, which will replace it.

Tesco consumers who get their Clubcard statement and vouchers by post will continue to do so, should they wish to.

The Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app lets customers shop in-store and online, earn Clubcard points and use Clubcard coupons and vouchers.

It also has a number of other new features, including a stock checker, shopping list function and a tool to let customers pay for shopping, earn Clubcard points and use coupons with one scan.

Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: “Our customers love the way their Clubcard helps them save money on their shopping whilst earning Clubcard points to put towards those little treats like days out and restaurant meals, or to help lower the cost of their groceries and fuel.”

This week Tesco launched its first ever “reverse supermarket” as food banks expect to face their most challenging winter ever.

Customers simply had to pay for the products they chose and Tesco matched the value and gave it to charity.

The London pop-up store has now closed.

Food inflation has surged again, piling more pressure on supermarket shoppers as analysts warn of an “increasingly bleak” winter .

New figures from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) show food inflation hit 12.4 per cent in the year to November – the highest rate since BRC records began.

Shop prices are up from 11.6 per cent in October and are now 7.4 per cent higher than last November.

The BRC-Nielsen IQ Shop Price Index shows fresh food inflation rose even higher to 14.3 per cent – up from 13.3 per cent last month.

The cost of meat, eggs and dairy saw the biggest price jump, while coffee prices also “shot up” as well.

The soaring price of energy, animal feed and transport are behind the increases, with the cost being passed on to customers in stores.
