Samsung TVs use the SmartThings app.

For LG it's called LG ThinQ.

These will only work if you're connected to the same WiFi network – so no meddling from a distance.

The Google Home app has a remote control feature for any smart TVs that are Android-based.

So this will work with the likes of Sony, Philips and TCL to name a few.

There are some third-party remote apps available, though we haven't tested any so can't say whether they are safe or not.
