I'm a Ring doorbell expert and there's a clever alert trick you're all missing – it could keep your home even safer | The Sun

IF you want to see what's going on outside your doorstep as fast as possible there's a Ring trick worth checking out.

It's all thanks to something called Rich Notifications.

The feature is included with the Ring Protect subscription.

When switched on, you'll receive a quick snapshot image of what's going on sent straight to your iPhone or Android device.

"With a quick look at your notification, you can know immediately if you need to open up Live View to take a closer look, or if you’d rather wait and review your video later," Ring explains.

The notification will sit on your phone until you've dismissed it.

Rich Notifications aren't stored in the Ring app.

Should you have a bad connection when the notification is sent out, Ring will hold onto it in the cloud for up to 15 minutes and try to deliver it to you as soon as you're reachable again.

In some cases of poor connection, you may not receive Rich Notifications.

But it works a bit differently depending on the handset you're using.
