Cashback tools saving spenders thousands as savvy shopper shares her tips

Britons could be saving thousands of pounds by making use of various cashback deals, cards, and online marketplaces.

One woman has been able to make an astonishing £3,800 in cashback just by doing “quick checks” before making a big purchase.

Linda, 58, told Express said: “I’ve earned almost £4,000 in cashback – £3,822.14 to be exact! I use it for everything from everyday shopping to buying insurance.

“This year, I earned £40 on my car insurance and £33 for house insurance using TopCompare (TopCashback’s insurance comparison tool).

“Knowing I can get cashback for normal everyday ordering is great. It costs me nothing to make a quick check to see if the retailer I want to shop with is on TopCashback.”

The biggest amount of cashback she has received in one go was £195 for taking out pet insurance.

When it comes to getting the cashback, Linda explained that sometimes it’s a matter of days, and other times it can take a while.

However, she highlighted that it all adds up, so as long as people remember to use TopCashback regularly, they will always have some money in their cashback pot.

To make great savings, customers can make use of online marketplaces, dedicated to giving cashback.

UK online marketplace OnBuy has become the world’s first cashback marketplace, offering cashback on every product across the site.

Launching today, the site confirms that cashback will be available as soon as an order is made and customers can spend their cashback with thousands of trusted sellers straight away.

Around £10 million has been set aside to reward customers as part of the launch.

OnBuy will also reward customers with cash in their pockets, as they can choose to withdraw cashback into their bank accounts after 30 days if they have a balance of £5 or more.

Existing customers will receive the best rates of 7.5 percent cashback, via promotional emails, which can be redeemed against anything on the OnBuy website.

Cas Paton, OnBuy’s founder and CEO said: “We’re introducing something genuinely disruptive to the world of online retail, which can be full of deceptive deals and too-good-to-be-true offers. OnBuy Cashback will reward customers’ loyalty in a tangible way, without codes or catches, and have a real impact on peoples’ pockets.

“Amazing choice, the brands people love and instant cashback on everything they buy – all in one place. Simple. It really pays to shop at OnBuy.

“During the cost-of-living crisis every penny counts, so easing the pressure on customers’ pockets will make a big difference. It’s a win-win.”

As well as cashback sites, people can make savings from cashback and reward cards.

By spending with cashback cards, Britons can benefit from pure cashback or points that convert into vouchers for shops, airlines, hotels and more.

On Martin Lewis and his money saving team ranked the top reward/cashback cards.

The Amex Platinum Cashback Everyday takes the top spot offering five percent cashback for the first three months, then ongoing cashback of up to one percent.

Alternatively, if people don’t want an Amex card, the best reward card available is Sainsbury’s Bank Mastercard.

Individuals can get 8,000 bonus Nectar points if they spend £400+ at Sainsbury’s/ Argos in the first two months – worth £40. However, customers must have a Nectar card.

Lastly, the best reward credit card is from Chase. Their Chase Bank Mastercard offers one percent cashback for at least a year with Chase’s app-only current account.
