AN UNEVEN concrete road has forced dozens of motorists to pay out for repairs on their vehicles.
Slabs on a route to an industrial estate and shopping area have been likened to 'driving over steps', causing tyres to be shredded, wheel rims dented and mechanical parts damaged.
Miles Gray Road, found on the outskirts of Basildon, Essex, is a busy route used by large freight firms and shoppers going to the Pips Hill retail park.
Some of the slabs on the public route have reportedly dropped by four inches with freight forwarder Kerry Martin, 29, claiming 'it's like driving over steps'.
As reported by the Daily Mail, they said: "Even going like a turtle over it, it still damages your car.
"I said to my mum that if this keeps going on I'm going to send the bill to the council, I feel as if I'm paying my road tax for no reason."

David Husak, 18, who drives a Suzuki hatchback, has also complained of damage to his motor.
He said: "I've had to replace my arm ball joints and wheel bearings and the tyres, many times.
"It must have cost me £900 over the past year.
"My dad also has a friend who's a truck driver and many times his tyres have blown."

Danka Sonner, 40, a transport controller, has to use the road often in her Vauxhall Combo van.
She's called the road 'dangerous', adding: "You can see this bit was fixed a couple of years ago but it's getting worse and worse.
"I have to go really slow. Some people totally stop in the road to get over it. I go maybe 5mph.
"We always get bikers along here and lorries coming to Argos and other companies."
In response, a spokesperson for Essex Highways said: “Miles Gray Road was last inspected on 23 September and is listed on a programme for repairs, with a date due to be set.
“In order to maximise our resources, we have to prioritise and schedule our work to fix the most urgent issues first.
"All defects reported to us are assessed by an inspector and prioritised accordingly."
Elsewhere, a recent poll has revealed which UK area has the worst drivers as more than half across the country admit that they do not consider themselves "good" behind the wheel.
This comes after a Range Rover once owned by Queen Elizabeth II goes up for auction… but will cost ten times more than a usual 4×4 thanks to its Royal connection.
