Mum shares easy way she boosted Christmas shop finances by £450

One woman has earned over £450 with TopCashback and has been able to pocket the cashback earned from buying gifts (over £55) to help fund her holidays.

Catherine O’Toole, a 52-year-old from London, now heads to TopCashback to purchase birthday presents for her loved ones.

With the extra cash she can get family and friends birthday presents they love, such as jewellery from Monica Vinader and candles from Brand Alley.

On average, adults have spent over £140 on presents and cards in the last three months, with this number likely to increase as Christmas draws closer.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite, Britons are constantly looking for ways they can make these savings.

Ms O’Toole said: “Ive bought gifts for my daughter, my husband, my sister and my god children through TopCashback. This included jewellery from Monica Vinader, Lego from Lego store, clothing from Boden, Voucher from JD Sports, leather wallet from Aspinal, Candles from Brand Alley and many more!

“I always make sure to use TopCashback whenever I can. It will sometimes dictate which retailer I use. If I can buy the same thing on various different sites, I will choose the site where I will receive cashback.

“It feels good to know that there is always a little extra coming back.”

With TopCashback, Britons can receive money back for a variety of things.

Ms O’Toole explained she booked a hotel back in March and received £46 cashback which was the most at once she has gotten.

She saves the extra cash in a separate savings account and can collect and use the money to treat herself and others.

She continued: “Most recently I used my cashback savings for a trip to Thailand. I booked a cookery course out on a farm, and I also did a day trip to an Elephant Sanctuary. My TopCashback earnings paid for these trips.”

Buying presents for loved ones can be expensive, and with people’s finances already being stretched, making someone feel special on their big day can feel like a lot of pressure. However, there are some simple tips shoppers can follow to save money while still giving thoughtful gifts.

Adam Bullock, TopCashback’s UK director, said: “This includes shopping online to avoid impulse buys and make the most of discounts and cashback opportunities. If you shop through a site like TopCashback, you can re-coup some of the money you are spending and put it towards another present or a treat for yourself.

“If you’re buying a gift for a close friend or family member, consider going in on a gift with others. Chipping in with a few people can allow you to purchase a more significant present without breaking the bank.

“It’s also worth trying to plan ahead, and if you know a birthday is coming up in a few months, buy gifts during seasonal sales or clearance events.”
