A RANGE Rover once owned by Queen Elizabeth II is up for sale at an auction… and could be yours for a hefty price.

The 19-year-old motor, the third generation of its kind built by Land Rover, is expected to sell for a whopping ten times what it's worth simply because of its Royal connection.

Specialist auction house Iconic Auctioneers expect the 4×4 to sell for £60,000.

If it wasn't for its prestigious former owner, it's thought that a 2004 Range Rover would otherwise sell for £6,000 at most.

However, this Range Rover does have several unusual and unique features that were only offered by the company's Special Vehicle Operations.

These include a dog guard at the rear and blue lights on the grille, as well as interior handles designed to make it easier for Her Majesty to get into the giant vehicle.

Eagle-eyed car experts may also notice a small hole on the bonnet, thought to be where a Labrador mascot was fitted.

A fierce bidding war is expected for the motor, which comes under the hammer at the NEC centre in Birmingham on November 11.

The car was last sold just three months ago at another auction.

However, it previously only fetched £30,000 as its famous previous owner could not be verified, leading to it failing to reach its starting bid price.

But now, evidence in the form of video footage clearly showing the Queen behind the wheel of the car with the licence plate BN04 EPU has been unearthed.

This proves that the Range Rover was indeed her motor of choice while she stayed at Balmoral in Scotland and Windsor Castle.

In the report by the Daily Mail, Iconic Auctioneers have said: "Attempts have previously been made to clarify early ownership with various authorities but, as with any vehicle of this nature, it is almost impossible to achieve a result.

"Pleasingly, however, video footage of HM Queen Elizabeth driving this Range Rover has now been located with the number plate clearly visible, ending earlier assumptions and confirming its heritage.

"Copies of the video are available on request."

Despite being 19 years old and covering 109,000 miles, the vehicle is said to still be in very good condition.

However, it is unlikely to be ULEZ compliant due to its age.

This comes after one man has been filmed driving a tank through central London to avoid ULEZ charges.
